One of the most complete Tyrannosaurus rex skeletons in the world has been put up for auction at Sotheby's. Organizers expect it to fetch up to $30 million (14.1 billion tenge), but the final price could be significantly higher. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

The specimen has been named Gus. It measures nearly 11.5 meters in length and about 3.8 meters in height. According to experts, the skeleton is approximately 75–80% complete by bone mass, making it one of the most complete known specimens of Tyrannosaurus rex.

The remains were discovered in 2023 in Harding County, South Dakota, USA. After the excavation, specialists spent nearly three years cleaning, restoring, documenting, and assembling the skeleton for museum display.

The auction will take place on July 14 in New York. Sotheby's expects interest not only from museums and scientists but also from private collectors willing to pay millions of dollars for the rare specimen.

Earlier, Kursiv LifeStyle reported that a bag made from reconstructed tyrannosaurus skin was auctioned in Paris for thousands of euros.
