25-year-old Kazakhstani Timofey Skatov (world No. 178) defeated 30-year-old Swede Elias Ymer (No. 185) 6:4, 6:1 in the second round of Wimbledon qualifying. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

In the first set, the native of Petropavlovsk needed just one break in the fifth game; in the second set, his dominance became even more evident. Breaking the Scandinavian's serve three times, Skatov finished the match in 69 minutes.

In the first qualifying round, Timofey beat Argentine Alex Barrena (No. 207) 6:3, 7:6 (7:4).

To earn a spot in the main draw of the Grand Slam tournament, Skatov needs to win one more match in the three-stage qualifying. His opponent will be either Italian Andrea Guerrieri (No. 229) or Frenchman Kyrian Jacquet (No. 136).

In the Wimbledon main draw, Skatov could join Kazakhstan's tennis representatives Elena Rybakina (No. 2), Anna Danilina (No. 6), Alexander Bublik (No. 11), Yulia Putintseva (No. 85), and Alexander Shevchenko (No. 98). The singles draw will take place on June 26.

The tournament draws for doubles, mixed doubles, and the junior tournament involving Kazakhstani players will be announced later.

The Wimbledon Championships 2026 will be held in London from June 29 to July 12. It is the third Grand Slam of the season and the only one on grass.

The prize fund is £64.2 million (up 20% from last year). Singles champions and finalists will receive £3.6 million and £1.8 million, respectively.

The Wimbledon main draw, like the other three majors, includes 128 players in singles, 64 pairs in doubles, and 32 pairs in mixed doubles.

The reigning Wimbledon champions are Italy's Jannik Sinner and Poland's Iga Swiatek.
