A woman killed in a random stabbing in Times Square worked for Bank of America, the bank confirmed Tuesday. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Associated Press.
The woman who died, Erin Piacenti, 32, was one of two people stabbed Monday afternoon in the tourist and theater hub, a few blocks from Bank of America's office tower in New York.
"We are shocked and deeply saddened by the tragic loss of our colleague," the bank said in a statement.
According to the New York Police Department, a woman randomly stabbed two people in Times Square, killing one woman, and then was fatally shot by police. The attacker was shot while brandishing two large knives.
The incident occurred on Monday, Aug. 31, 2026. According to bystander video and official accounts, officers fired when the woman was brandishing two large knives.
Police also identified the attacker, but her name has not been released. The investigation is ongoing.
