Tesla has recalled three million electric vehicles due to deadly door handles. In emergency situations, the doors of the EVs automatically lock, preventing passengers from leaving the cabin. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing BILD.

As it turned out, Tesla's main feature, the hidden door handles, turns into a deadly trap for drivers and passengers.

For example, in September 2025, near the German city of Schwerte, a man and two children burned to death in a Tesla because the doors were locked after a collision with a tree. An expert then determined that the automatic emergency unlocking did not work.

It is worth noting that this is not the first such case in Germany: in 2022, two 18-year-old young people also burned to death in the back seats of a Tesla Model S in Dobberkow. In that case, the automatic door unlocking also failed.

Due to the tragic incidents, Chinese authorities are taking measures to ensure that the automaker prioritizes safety over futuristic design. Beijing demanded clearer marking of the mechanical emergency door unlocking inside vehicles.

In addition, Tesla will make warning signs, update software, and ensure automatic emergency window lowering.

Earlier, Kursiv reported that Tesla will launch a robotaxi without a steering wheel and pedals by the end of August.
