A 67-year-old man was seriously injured in a gas explosion at a private house in Temirtau. He was hospitalized with burns to 70% of his body. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

Explosion occurred in the morning

The explosion occurred at around six in the morning. Hearing a loud bang, neighbors called rescuers. The blast wave completely destroyed the kitchen, blew out windows and doors, and large cracks appeared in the ceiling of the house.

At the time of the incident, the owner of the house, who lives alone, was inside. According to the TV channel, he had installed the gas equipment recently.

Gas workers' version

Gas workers suggested that the cause of the emergency could have been an unauthorized gas start-up. Relatives of the victim disagree with this version and insist on an examination.

"The owner of the house with thermal burns was taken by an ambulance crew to the Multidisciplinary Hospital of Temirtau," the city emergency situations department said.

Man in intensive care

The man is in intensive care. In addition to burns, doctors diagnosed him with bruises. The Starogorodskoy police department opened a criminal case. The circumstances of the incident are being established.
