In the courtyard of one of the high-rise buildings in Temirtau, Karaganda region, there is a real tank. The weapon was planned to be dismantled, but residents stood up for it. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
History of the Tank
The weapon has been in the courtyard of house No. 3 in the 9th microdistrict for about 35 years. Recently, a small child fell from it, and his mother demanded that the akimat dismantle the tank. The residents of the courtyard disagreed.
Residents' Opinion
On social media, residents expressed their position:
«"The tank in our MZhK courtyard is more than just a monument. For over 35 years, it has been part of the history of our district, a symbol of childhood, and a place associated with thousands of warm memories. Today they want to dismantle it. We, the residents of MZhK, disagree with this and ask to preserve the tank in its historical place," wrote a social media user.»

Akim's Response
This small confrontation ended with the tank remaining in its original place. This was announced by the city akim Sapar Satayev. According to him, no decisions on demolition have been made or planned. At the same time, comprehensive improvement works are planned in the courtyard in 2027, and the weapon will not be affected.
Opposing Views
Meanwhile, on social media, Temirtau residents ask to remove the military symbol from the city:
«"Why this tank, why do people love and glorify something that brings death, destruction, suffering? Kazakhstan does not want to fight and, God willing, will never know this horror. We want to live in peace, create, not destroy. And we should remember our relatives who died in WWII in prayers, tell our grandchildren in the family circle, not run around the city waving a red flag and making a fetish out of some tank,"»

«"Please remove this tank. It's the 21st century,"»

«"Why do you need a tank, we don't need signs reminding us of war," users noted.»
