Boxer Temirtas Zhusupov and his wife Aizhan Zhusupova have announced that they reconciled after a family conflict and intend to preserve their marriage. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
The couple recorded a joint video message following reports of a criminal case being opened due to Aizhan Zhusupova's injuries.
"We decided to record this message together because many rumors and discussions have appeared around our family. Yes, a family conflict occurred between us. We both drew conclusions, had a serious conversation, and made a joint decision to preserve our family. We ask you to respect our decision and our right to privacy," said Temirtas Zhusupov.
Aizhan Zhusupova stated that she voluntarily withdrew her statement and filed a petition to terminate the criminal case.
"I want to say personally, the decision to withdraw the statement and file a petition to terminate the criminal case was made voluntarily and no pressure was applied. We appeal to the administration of public pages, bloggers, and media: stop spreading information about our family, delete publications. We ask you to respect our private life and give our family the opportunity to live peacefully," she said.
Earlier, Kursiv reported that Aizhan Zhusupova was admitted to a hospital in Kokshetau with head injuries. The police opened a criminal case, and the boxer himself stated that he was defending himself during the family conflict.
The Health Department of Akmola Region confirmed that the woman was admitted to the multidisciplinary regional hospital on June 30. According to doctors, she was diagnosed with a closed craniocerebral injury, concussion, contusions of facial soft tissues, abrasions, and convulsive syndrome. She did not require surgical treatment, refused hospitalization the next day, and continued outpatient treatment.
According to Temirtas Zhusupov's version, his wife was the first to use force — she tried to gouge out his eye with a key and hit him with scissors, after which he, in his words, "could not stand it and calmed" his wife.
The athlete also said that conflicts had been ongoing in the family for a long time, and his wife had repeatedly shown aggression towards him. The couple is raising two children.
Temirtas Zhusupov is a world boxing champion, winner of the Asian Championship, and multiple medalist of international competitions.
