The digital labeling system has identified over 25,000 cases of resale of free medications in pharmacies, the Ministry of Healthcare reported. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

Over the past two years, the digital labeling system for medicines has for the first time made it possible to reliably estimate the actual volume of drug circulation. To date, approximately 1 billion units of drugs have been labeled. Of these, about 604 million units are imported medicines, and 400 million units are products of domestic manufacturers.

Additionally, more than 457 million packages have been withdrawn from circulation and sold to end consumers. "One of the important results of the labeling system implementation was the ability to automatically detect suspicious transactions. The system recorded over 25,000 cases of resale in pharmacies of drugs intended for free drug provision," the statement said.

Previously, violations such as resale of previously sold drugs, package replacement, or illegal changes to expiration dates were mainly detected during control inspections.
