On September 19, a large-scale environmental campaign World CleanUp Day took place across all regions of Kazakhstan. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
This year, more than 513,000 people joined World Cleanup Day. Among them were over 140,000 civil servants and 82,000 volunteers.
Schoolchildren and students, youth organizations, enterprises, public associations and residents of the regions also actively participated.
According to the Ministry of Ecology, across the country participants cleaned parks and public places, forest areas, river banks and reservoirs, and the outskirts of cities and villages. As a result, about 6,000 hectares of land were cleaned and more than 12,000 tons of waste were collected.
Along with the cleanup, landscaping work was carried out in the regions. Thanks to the joint efforts of the participants, more than 38,000 trees and shrubs were planted.
