During the implementation of the Taza Kazakhstan initiative, more than 3.8 million tonnes of waste were collected and nearly 10,000 landfills were eliminated across the country. These figures were presented by Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Alibek Kuantyrov to President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
According to the minister, more than 2,000 environmental events were held across the country as part of the initiative.
Astana Akim Zhenis Kassymbek reported to the president on the improvement and greening of the capital. In recent years, about 500 courtyards and public spaces have been put in order in the city. By the end of 2026, it is planned to improve more than 170 additional courtyards and public areas, including parks, squares and boulevards.
A continuous green route is also planned along the Yesil River. It is expected to connect parks, walking and sports areas in different parts of the city.
Earlier, Kursiv wrote that Tokayev, together with young people and eco-activists, planted trees in the Presidential Park as part of the Taza Kazakhstan campaign. On September 19, cleanups of public spaces dedicated to World Cleanup Day are also planned in all regions of the country.
