The Ministry of Science and Higher Education has published a list of disappearing and emerging professions in the mining sector. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

According to Akerke Abylaikhan, Deputy Chairperson of the Committee for Higher and Postgraduate Education, the atlas of new professions is now taken into account when updating educational programs. Accordingly, the following new professions will emerge in the mining sector:

  • 01Predictive diagnostics engineer
  • 02Remote operator-technologist
  • 03Production process coordination manager
  • 04Composite materials designer

The following professions have been identified as disappearing:

  • 01Subscriber group controller
  • 02Controller-technologist
  • 03Bunker operator
  • 04Bulldozer operator
  • 05Conveyor operator

Abylaikhan announced these lists at the coal industry forum in Astana. According to her, currently 60 percent of educational grants are allocated to engineering and technical specialties. In addition, universities can independently develop educational programs based on employer demand.
