The Pervomaisky District Court in Bishkek is holding another hearing in the case against former head of the State Committee for National Security (SCNS) Kamchybek Tashiev and other participants in the so-called '75 Aksakals case'. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
Also in the dock are former Prosecutor General Kurmankul Zulushev, former parliament speaker Nurlanbek Turganbek uulu, former officials Bekbolot Talgarbekov, Kursan Asanov, Kurmanbek Dyikanbaev, Aaly Karashev and Emil Uzakbaev.
Earlier, during the parties' debates, prosecutors requested 9 years of imprisonment for each defendant. The former speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh told journalists that the charges and the requested sentences are absurd.
'We need to be patient a little, and everything will become clear,' Turganbek uulu concluded.
Recall that the criminal prosecution is linked to a collective appeal ('letter of 75 aksakals') published on February 9. The document demanded early presidential elections due to disputes over the term limits of President Sadyr Japarov. The Interior Ministry's investigation classified this as an attempt to destabilize the situation for a subsequent coup.
The day before, on June 11, the court granted the lawyers' request and declassified the volumes of the criminal case, leaving only future interrogations of secret witnesses closed.
Later, the process was closed again at the request of the defendants.
