A visitor to correctional facility No. 59 in Taraz was found with a hidden camera disguised as glasses during a short-term meeting with an inmate. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Polisia.kz.
The incident occurred on June 19 around 1:10 PM. The device was discovered by facility staff together with personnel of the control and passage group of military unit VCh-5513.
"It was established that among the visitor's personal belongings there was a technical device prohibited from being brought into the facility. The item was disguised as ordinary black glasses, but in fact was a device equipped with means of covert audio and video recording," the statement said.
Before the search, the citizen was informed of the requirement to voluntarily surrender prohibited items, but he did not comply.
An investigative-operational group was called to the scene. The information was transferred to the authorized bodies. The collected materials have been sent to court.
