Construction of a metallurgical plant has begun in the city of Taraz. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

The new production facility will be located on the territory of the Taraz Industrial Zone. The project is being implemented jointly by Taraz Production Plant LLP and China's Guangdong Wantai Supply Chain Co., Ltd. Investments in the metallurgical plant amount to 61 billion tenge.

The enterprise will produce up to 1 million tons per year of hot-rolled steel coils, stainless steel products, welded and galvanized pipes, profile pipes, rebar, and other metal products. The first phase of the plant is planned to be launched in the first quarter of 2028.

During the construction phase, 500 people will be employed, and after the plant is put into operation, 260 permanent jobs are expected to be created.
