A man was detained in Taraz for attempting to bring glasses with a hidden camera into a correctional facility. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

On June 19 at approximately 1:10 PM, during the implementation of preliminary operational information, employees of facility No. 59 together with military personnel of the National Guard conducted an inspection of the personal belongings of a citizen who arrived for a short-term visit.

During the inspection, a technical device prohibited from being brought into the facility was found among the visitor's personal belongings. The item appeared to be ordinary black glasses, but in fact turned out to be a device equipped with means of covert audio and video recording.

Before the inspection, the citizen was explained in accordance with the law the requirement to voluntarily surrender prohibited items and technical devices, but this requirement was not fulfilled. Materials on this fact were registered in accordance with the established procedure, and an operational-investigative team was called to the scene. The information was also brought to the attention of authorized state bodies.

The collected materials were sent to court for legal assessment.
