The sugar plant in Taraz will be able to process up to 3,000 tonnes of sugar beet per day and up to 300,000 tonnes per year after modernization. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
This was announced by the Ministry of Agriculture. Since 2001, the enterprise had not processed sugar beet, working mainly with cane raw materials. In 2025, modernization of the plant began with the aim of reviving the processing of domestic sugar beet and increasing production capacity.
According to the ministry, the investment cost of the project is 12.4 billion tenge. The modernization work is planned to be completed in October.
“After the project is implemented, the enterprise will be able to process up to 3,000 tonnes per day and up to 300,000 tonnes of sugar beet per year. In the coming period, production capacity is expected to be increased to 700,000 tonnes per year,” the ministry says.
In order to provide the plant with the necessary raw materials, contracts have been signed with 84 agricultural entities.
Currently, dismantling of outdated equipment and metal structures at the enterprise has been completed, and the main part of technological equipment and special machinery has been delivered. In addition, work is underway to prepare production infrastructure.
A land plot has been allocated for the placement of sugar beet waste, and measures are being taken to improve the sanitary protection zone.
