A ticket office employee at Taraz station was convicted for manipulating ticket sales. The case was heard by City Court No. 2. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
According to the Prosecutor General's Office of Kazakhstan, when selling travel documents to passengers, the woman did not issue direct tickets but split the route into separate segments. This scheme created a difference between the actual fare and the amount passengers ultimately paid. She kept the "profit" from this scheme for herself.
Three passengers suffered from the cashier's actions. Violations were detected, the case was investigated, and the state prosecution was supported by the transport prosecutor's office.
"The court found the woman guilty of repeated fraud using her official position. She was fined 248,430 tenge. She was also banned for three years from working in positions related to cash and material assets," the Prosecutor General's Office reported.
The verdict has not yet entered into legal force.
Earlier, a man wanted internationally for fraud via Instagram was deported to Kazakhstan from Turkey. And the authorities of Kyrgyzstan extradited to Kazakhstan a female drug dealer convicted in 2010 for hashish smuggling.
