Akim of Zhambyl region Yerbol Karashukeyev inspected the operation of the Taraz sugar plant after its modernization, the regional akimat reported. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

In order to resume production at the Taraz sugar plant, modernization work has been underway since 2025. The total cost of the project is 12.4 billion tenge.

Once fully launched, the plant will be capable of processing about 250,000 tonnes of sugar beet per year. Its daily production capacity is enough to process 3,000 tonnes of sugar beet, the statement said.

Currently, construction and installation work is being carried out at the main production facilities, and most of the necessary measures have been completed. Key technological equipment for the lines of beet reception, washing, processing, juice purification, filtration, evaporation, crystallization and centrifugation has been delivered and is being installed.

Today, the plant's readiness for launch stands at 95 percent. To speed up the work, 10 contractor organizations are working in two shifts.

Raw material reception has been carried out since October 25 according to the approved schedule. Currently, 1,000 tonnes of raw material are accepted per day, and in November this figure is planned to be gradually increased.

The regional akim instructed to complete the modernization of the Taraz sugar plant within the established timeframe and to accelerate the measures necessary to launch the enterprise. District akimats were tasked with completing the harvesting campaign on time, preventing losses of agricultural products, and keeping the storage and sale of the harvested crop under constant control.
