August ended with a decrease in prices for socially significant food products, the Ministry of Trade and Integration reported. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to the results of the last week, the index of socially significant food products (SSFP) was 100.0%. Since the beginning of August, prices have decreased by 0.2%.
Since the beginning of the year, the index was 101.4%, while in the same period last year this figure was 107.9%. Thus, the growth of SSFP prices since the beginning of the year remains at the lowest level and is more than 5 times lower than last year's figure.
The ministry's statement says: "The current positive dynamics are facilitated by the seasonal decline in prices for new products. The decrease in prices for vegetable products stabilized the overall index and made it possible to compensate for the increase in prices for individual goods."
Positive dynamics in SSFP are also reflected in food inflation. On an annual basis, its level decreased from 13.5% in December last year to 10.1% as of July.
At the same time, the work is not limited to seasonal measures. The main focus is on factors that directly affect the final cost of products: intermediaries, markets, transport costs, and producer selling prices.
