Meteorologists have reported that the weather in August will surprise Kazakhstanis. The south and west of the country are forecast to be predominantly hot, while the northern half will experience moderate heat with refreshing rains and thunderstorms. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

First Decade: Unstable Weather

With the passage of an active northwestern cyclone and atmospheric frontal sections during the first ten days of August, unstable weather is expected across most of Kazakhstan. Thunderstorms, squally winds, and possible hail are forecast, with heavy rains on some days in the north, center, and east, and in the middle of the period in mountainous and foothill areas of the southeast.

However, in the western half and center of the country, a brief cessation of precipitation is expected from the middle of the first decade.

Temperature Background

In the first decade of August, daytime temperatures in the west and northwest of Kazakhstan are expected to gradually rise from +25+35°C to +34+39°C, reaching 41°C in the south of Atyrau region; in Mangystau region from +35+40°C to +39+44°C.

  • 01In the north of the republic and in Kostanay region, temperatures will drop from +25+35°C to +20+28°C, with heat returning to +30+38°C at the end of the decade.

  • 03In the center and east, weather conditions will alternate from intense heat of +33+41°C to moderately hot weather of +22+31°C.
  • 04In the southeast, temperatures will fluctuate from +34+39°C (up to +42°C in Zhambyl region) to +27+35°C.

Second and Third Decades

In the second and third decades of August, in the northern half of the republic, nighttime temperatures are expected to fluctuate from +3+8°C to +10+18°C, and daytime from +17+25°C to +25+35°C.

In the west and southern half of the country, nighttime temperatures will range from +17+27°C to +13+18°C, and daytime from +32+42°C to +25+35°C.
