The Sarysu District Court of Zhambyl Region has considered a criminal case against a taxi driver who insulted a passenger via WhatsApp. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
In February 2025, taxi driver M. insulted the victim in the presence of her mother, using words that humiliated her honor and dignity. A year later, another conflict arose between them.
The victim posted an advertisement about looking for a taxi. After that, M. called her several times via WhatsApp. The victim demanded that he stop contacting her and sent a voice message. In response, M. sent an audio message with rude and insulting words.
In court, the man's guilt was proven by the parties' testimonies and the conclusion of a forensic psychological and philological examination. The defendant admitted his guilt and did not hide that he said harsh words in anger. He expressed regret and asked the victim for forgiveness.
The victim asked for strict punishment and compensation for moral damage. The court recognized the defendant's admission of guilt, having minor children, and committing the offense for the first time as mitigating circumstances. No aggravating circumstances were found.
By the court's verdict, citizen M. was found guilty and fined 20 MCI, which is 86,500 tenge. Additionally, 20,000 tenge was collected from him in favor of the victim as compensation for moral damage. The verdict has entered into legal force.
