Finance Minister Madi Takiyev announced that thousands of taxi drivers and couriers have started paying taxes. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

Since the beginning of the year, a special tax regime has been introduced for the self-employed. There are currently 38 platforms, including Yandex, inDrive, Wolt, Glovo and other services. As tax agents, they withhold social payments at a rate of 4%.

"As a result, the number of employed people increased from 14,500 to 805,000, and the volume of social payments grew from 1.4 billion tenge to 16.1 billion tenge. At the same time, more than 600,000 unregistered individuals were brought into the official economic turnover," Takiyev said at today's government meeting.

According to him, digitalisation allows not only to control the economy but also to legalise labour activity without additional administrative burden. It is worth noting that at today's meeting, Takiyev also announced the amount of funds saved thanks to digitalisation.
