A Kazakh woman who smuggled suitcases of drugs from Bangkok has been sentenced. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

In Almaty, a 22-year-old citizen of Kazakhstan who attempted to smuggle a large amount of drugs from Thailand was sentenced to 16 years in prison. The woman agreed to deliver two suitcases containing a total of 8.8 kilograms of cannabis extract to Kazakhstan for a monetary reward. The contraband was intercepted immediately upon her arrival at Almaty airport, according to the Prosecutor General's Office.

Offers of "easy money" and free travel spread on social networks are part of international drug trafficking schemes. The prosecutor's office warned that regardless of their role in the crime, participants are held criminally liable.
