Kazakhstan has resumed and is continuing construction and installation work on 10 projects that were started in 2010-2020 but not completed. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
Among them are six projects for the reconstruction and modernization of canals in the Kyzylorda and Turkestan regions, as well as projects to reconstruct the Preobrazhensky hydroelectric complex and the Sileti reservoir in the Akmola region, the dam hydroelectric complex on the Kusak River in the Abai region, and the water intake structure on the Sumbe River in the Almaty region.
Currently, construction and installation work has resumed at the water intake facility on the Sumbe River and on the Kyzylkum main canal in the Turkestan region. Competitive procedures have begun for the K-26 and K-28 canals in the Turkestan region.
Four other projects are under review by the state-owned enterprise "Memsaraptama", while work is underway to introduce amendments to the remaining two projects.
Overall, since the ministry's establishment, the number of long-unfinished projects for the construction and reconstruction of water management facilities has nearly halved. "If in 2020-2022 there were 19 such projects on the balance sheet of the Water Resources Committee, today their number has decreased to 10. The remaining projects are planned to be completed and put into operation within the next two years," said Nurbeck Serikov, acting chairman of the ministry's Water Resources Committee.
