Turkish police have detained two people after the death of 26-year-old Kazakh citizen Aisulu Bekmakhanova, who fell from the roof of a building in Istanbul. Among those detained are the girl's neighbor and her alleged lover, the DHA agency reports. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

The detainees are 22-year-old Russian citizen Darya B., with whom the deceased lived, and 35-year-old shop owner Mazhar T. It is not yet known whether they are suspected of involvement in Aisulu's death.

Turkish journalists published a photograph taken shortly before the Kazakh woman's death. In the photo, the girl is sitting on the edge of the roof of a neighboring building. It turned out that her neighbor had taken the photo.

Darya told police that around 08:15 she saw her friend on the roof and asked her to come back. However, she refused and suggested that her neighbor go to sleep.

Later, Darya woke up to loud music and noticed that her friend was not in the room. Looking outside, she saw the damaged roof of the neighboring building and found Aisulu motionless below.

Investigators also found that shortly before her death, the girl had met with her alleged lover. According to the man, the Kazakh woman came to him around 05:30 and left at 07:40.

Police continue to establish why the girl was on the roof and what happened before her fall.

Earlier, Kursiv reported that the tragedy occurred on the morning of October 25 in the Sisli district. According to preliminary data, Bekmakhanova moved from the balcony of the sixth floor onto the roof of a neighboring building. There, she presumably stepped on a fragile structure and fell through. The girl died on the spot.

Later, the Kazakh Foreign Ministry confirmed the death of its citizen. The ministry said that diplomats had contacted her relatives and were providing them with consular and legal assistance. The investigation is under the ministry's control.
