Turkey continues to investigate the death of 26-year-old Kazakh citizen Aisulu Bekmakhanova, who died in Istanbul under mysterious circumstances. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

The tragedy occurred on the morning of October 25 in the Şişli district. According to preliminary findings, Bekmakhanova moved from a sixth-floor balcony onto the roof of an adjacent building. The panel beneath her feet gave way, and she fell into the gap between the buildings. Medics pronounced her dead at the scene. Police subsequently detained her neighbor and alleged boyfriend.

Her neighbor and alleged boyfriend have been released under judicial control with a ban on leaving the country. Meanwhile, surveillance camera footage showing the woman before the tragedy has emerged, according to the DHA agency.

The footage shows Aisulu arriving at a man the agency describes as her boyfriend, then leaving him, walking down the street and returning home. According to the man, the woman left him at around 07:40.

The detainees — 22-year-old Russian citizen Darya B., with whom the Kazakh woman lived, and 35-year-old Mazhar T. — were brought to court after questioning. Both were released under judicial control with a ban on leaving Turkey, Haber Global writes. The investigation continues.

Earlier, a photograph of Aisulu on the edge of the roof, taken by Darya, emerged. The neighbor told police that at around 08:15 she saw her friend there and asked her to come back.

"I'll sit here, you go to sleep," Aisulu replied, according to Darya. The Russian woman then returned to the room.

Kazakhstan's Foreign Ministry confirmed the death of its citizen. Diplomats have contacted her relatives and are providing consular and legal assistance. The investigation is under the ministry's supervision.
