In the North Kazakhstan region, the death of a pregnant woman who died after emergency hospitalization is being investigated. Relatives believe the tragedy was caused by the poor condition of the road, along which the ambulance traveled for more than an hour and a half. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

The tragedy occurred in the Zhambyl district of the North Kazakhstan region. According to relatives, on the evening of July 3, 34-year-old Darima Sagdeyeva, who was in the last months of pregnancy, suddenly fell ill. The woman lost consciousness, after which medics were called to the scene.

The husband of the deceased, Azamat Sagdeyev, is convinced that the tragedy could have been avoided if his wife had been taken to the hospital faster.

"At 12 o'clock at night, they took her by ambulance to the district hospital in Presnovka. I accompanied the ambulance in my car. The driver drove slowly. We stopped several times. I asked why they were driving so slowly. He replied that my wife was screaming in pain at every bump. Near the village of Aiyymzhan, a second ambulance—a resuscitation vehicle—was waiting. Then my wife was taken in it. 37 kilometers along a broken road took an hour and a half. They brought her to the hospital. But at four in the morning, I was told that my wife could not be saved," he said.

According to the man, doctors reported that the woman's heart stopped twice during transportation. The cause of death was uterine rupture and internal bleeding. The child could not be saved either.

The father of the deceased, Marat Rakhmetov, said that Darima was his only remaining child.

"This is my only daughter. I had a son—he died. Then my wife died. Now I have lost my daughter. Darima and her husband lived in the city. After I was left alone, they moved to the village. I lived with them for these three years. My daughter worked here as a teacher and head of studies. Everyone respected her. Now I have two grandchildren left. They have not yet been told about what happened. They were told that their mother is on a business trip," said the father of the deceased.

After the tragedy, the police department of the North Kazakhstan region opened a criminal case on the fact of a person's death. A pre-trial investigation is currently underway, based on the results of which a procedural decision will be made.

Relatives of Darima Sagdeyeva demand an objective investigation and believe that it is necessary to assess not only the actions of the doctors but also the condition of the road along which the patient was transported.

After the high-profile case, regional authorities announced that the repair of the Presnovka-Kairankol highway would receive priority funding.

As reported by Deputy Akim of the North Kazakhstan region Nurlan Kenesov, the work will be carried out in three stages.

"Today we will carry out the work in three stages. The first stage is from Kairankol to the village of Ukrainskoye, the second from Ukrainskoye to Blagoveshchenka, then to Presnovka. For the first stage, design and estimate documentation is already ready, and an expert opinion has been obtained. In the near future, a contractor will be determined, after which work will begin," he said.

Meanwhile, residents of the Zhambyl district continue to post photos and videos of the destroyed road on social networks. Relatives of the deceased are awaiting the results of a forensic medical examination, which should be ready within a month.
