In the Aiyrtau district of the North Kazakhstan region, budget funds were embezzled during construction. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to the Financial Monitoring Agency, in 2017, the Department of Energy and Housing and Communal Services signed a contract with Akcent KZ LLP under the Business Roadmap 2020 program.
The company was to build a railway access road with branches of internal roads and engineering networks to the Syrymbet deposit. It is worth noting that the Syrymbet deposit is of strategic importance for the region — it is the only tin deposit in Kazakhstan and the largest in Central Asia.
The total cost of the public procurement was 1.4 billion tenge. Initially, construction was planned to be completed in 2018. However, the project implementation period was extended several times. Despite this, the construction of the facility has not been completed to this day.
As a result, work worth 380 million tenge was not actually performed, the agency said.
The head of the contractor organization and the former head of the Department of Energy and Housing and Communal Services were recognized as suspects. By court sanction, 3 apartments and a parking space were seized.
An investigation is underway.
