In the North Kazakhstan region, a utility company has been fined 174 million tenge for illegally discharging wastewater. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to the Prosecutor General's Office, as part of an analysis conducted by the environmental prosecutor's office, violations of environmental legislation were identified in the city of Petropavlovsk in the form of illegal discharge of wastewater by a utility company.
In this regard, the regional Ecology Department conducted an inspection at the request of the prosecutor's office, during which gross violations were identified, consisting of discharging wastewater not provided for in the permitting documentation.
Based on the results of the inspection, the Department issued the utility company an order to eliminate the identified violations and opened an administrative offense case.
"By a court ruling dated August 14, 2026, the utility company was held administratively liable under Part 1 of Article 328 of the Administrative Offenses Code with a fine of 174 million tenge," the statement said.
The court act has entered into legal force.
