Severe weather to hit north and east Kazakhstan: storm warning issued

A storm warning has been issued in Kazakhstan for August 27. According to Kazhydromet forecasts, most of the country will be dry, but northern, northwestern and eastern regions will be hit by rain and thunderstorms. Heavy precipitation, hail and squally winds are expected in places. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

Weather in northern regions

The most difficult weather is forecast in the north of the country. In the North Kazakhstan region, rain and thunderstorms are expected, and in the west and north during the day - heavy rain, hail, squalls and dust storms. Wind gusts will reach 25 m/s. In Petropavlovsk, rain, thunderstorms, hail and squalls are also expected.

In the Akmola region, rain, thunderstorms, hail, squalls and dust storms are possible during the day. The wind will increase to 15-20 m/s, in places - up to 25 m/s. In Kokshetau, rain with thunderstorms is expected.

In the Kostanay region, rain and thunderstorms are forecast, with heavy rain at times in the north and west. Hail and squalls are possible during the day. In Kostanay, rain with thunderstorms is expected.

Weather in eastern regions

In the east, at night in the East Kazakhstan region, rains with thunderstorms will pass, and in eastern and mountainous areas, rain and snow are possible. Wind gusts will be 15-18 m/s. Fog is expected in places at night and in the morning.

Western and southern regions

Rain and thunderstorms are also forecast in the north of the Aktobe region, in the Mangystau and West Kazakhstan regions. In some areas, the wind will increase to 15-20 m/s.

In the Almaty region, during the day in the east, wind gusts up to 18 m/s are expected, in Zhetisu - up to 20 m/s. In the mountainous areas of Zhetisu, fog is possible at night and in the morning.

In addition, in the Kyzylorda region, a dust storm with wind gusts up to 20 m/s is forecast during the day.

Fire danger

Extreme fire danger remains in a number of regions, including Kyzylorda, Atyrau, Zhambyl, West Kazakhstan, Aktobe regions, Ulytau region and certain areas of Almaty, Zhetisu, Kostanay, Mangystau, Abai and Karaganda regions.
