The 'For Courage' medal of a Kazakhstani soldier who went missing during World War II was returned to his relatives after 80 years. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

The medal's recipient was a native of Kyzylorda region, one of 12 soldiers from Kazakhstan. He went to the front in 1941 and soon went missing. Only in 2024 were his remains found, and in 2025 the medal was handed over to his relatives.

The ceremony took place at the akimat of Kyzylorda region. The medal was received by the soldier's grand-nephew, who expressed pride in his ancestor's bravery.

This is an example of commemorating soldiers who died in the war. To date, the fate of over 100 missing soldiers has been determined in Kazakhstan.
