Kazakhstani figure skater Sofya Samodelkina became a bronze medalist at the Denis Ten Memorial in women's singles. Over the two programs, she scored 204.36 points. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
The ISU Challenger series tournament is taking place in Almaty. After the short program, Samodelkina was in third place with a score of 69.45 points. This result became her new personal record in the short program at international competitions.
In the free program, the Kazakhstani skater received 134.91 points, bringing her total to 204.36. This was enough to maintain third position and finish the home tournament on the podium.
The winner of the competition was the 2022 Olympic vice-champion, Russian Alexandra Ignatova (née Trusova), competing in a neutral status. She scored 226.01 points. Second place went to Korean figure skater Kim Yoo-jae – 209.20.
In addition to Samodelkina, five other representatives of Kazakhstan competed in women's singles. Nuriya Suleimen took 14th place with 122.40 points. Alika Khalimova finished 15th – 120.56, Amira Irmatova – 16th with 117.00. Zere Sarballina finished the tournament in 18th position – 108.73, and Amina Alekseeva took 19th place with a score of 98.20 points.
