American investor and Sofreh Capital founder Shervin Pishevar announced plans to open the company's offices in Kazakhstan, move his team there and invest in the development of the local AI economy. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

He said this at the AI & Digital Bridge 2026 forum in Astana.

What attracts the investor

According to the investor, the country is made attractive by a combination of engineering talent, state support for innovation and natural resources. He separately noted the space and nuclear industries.

"I want to open Sofreh Capital offices, move the team here and actively invest in the future of Kazakhstan," Pishevar said.

The Higgsfield example

The investor also named the Kazakh AI company Higgsfield as an example of local technological potential. According to him, the company has reached $1 billion in revenue.

No specific timeline

Pishevar announced his intention to open Sofreh Capital offices and move the team to Kazakhstan, but did not name specific timelines. It is also not yet known exactly how much the fund intends to invest in local projects.

Prospects for the space industry

The investor separately noted the prospects of Kazakhstan's space industry – from launches to satellite manufacturing. According to him, the development of computing infrastructure in space could become a multi-trillion market in the future.

For now, it is only plans

Thus, for now it is a matter of plans, rather than a completed relocation or an announced investment project. The statement was made at the session The New Economy: Powered by AI at the AI & Digital Bridge 2026 forum.

Earlier, Kursiv wrote that Bagdat Mussin stated: "The entire territory of Kazakhstan could become a 'valley of data centers'."
