In the first nine months of 2026, clinics in Kazakhstan conducted more than 8 million screening examinations. As a result, 150,000 people were newly diagnosed with serious risks and diseases, ranging from diabetes and cardiovascular pathologies to cancer. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

Glaucoma screening

According to the National Scientific Center for Health Development, 1.74 million people underwent glaucoma screening during this period. Almost 4,600 of them were placed under observation. Doctors will regularly monitor their condition, conduct follow-up examinations, and prescribe treatment.

Diabetes and cardiovascular diseases

Millions of Kazakhstanis were also screened for other diseases. A total of 1.66 million people were tested for diabetes, of whom 30,700 were registered for follow-up. Screening for hypertension and ischemic heart disease covered 1.47 million Kazakhstanis. As a result, 97,000 of them required medical supervision.

Cerebral vessel screening was undergone by 281,000 people, of whom 14,200 were placed under medical supervision.

Cancer diagnostics

Special attention was given to cancer diagnostics. More than 1.09 million women were screened for breast cancer, over 777,000 for cervical cancer, and colorectal screening covered 1.35 million people. Based on the results, medics detected 2,037 cases of breast cancer, 374 cases of cervical cancer, and 601 cases of intestinal tumors.

Coverage indicators

According to the Ministry of Health, Kazakhstanis have become more likely to undergo certain examinations. Thus, coverage for glaucoma rose to almost 91%, and for diabetes to over 84%. However, screenings for cardiovascular diseases have fallen by 5%. The reasons for this are not reported.

At the same time, the diagnostic program itself is expanding. It is noted that the maximum age limit for participants was raised to 76 years, and men aged 50–76 can now separately check their cerebral vessels.

Earlier, it became known that screenings for hepatitis B and C are planned to be introduced for everyone in Kazakhstan.
