MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — Scottie Scheffler thought the bunker shot was ideal until he saw it bounce hard off a sprinkler, roll across the green and disappear down the slope. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Associated Press.

The world No. 1 won the St. Jude Championship on Sunday by eight shots, opening the PGA Tour postseason with a dominant performance. It was his seventh victory of the season and his first title at TPC Southwind in Tennessee.

Scheffler shot a 66 in the final round to finish at 258, 22 under par. He beat Sam Burns by eight shots. Si Woo Kim of South Korea finished third.

This is not Scheffler's first major win of the PGA Tour season. He has already won several tournaments earlier. However, this victory shows his strong form and gives him confidence ahead of the upcoming FedEx Cup playoff events.

After the tournament, Scheffler told reporters: "I played very well today. I hit the ball well and made putts. This is an important win for me."

In the early rounds, Scheffler led, but in the third round he made a few mistakes, allowing Burns to close in. However, in the final round he regained control.

Sam Burns shot a 68 in the final round to finish at 266, taking second place. Si Woo Kim shot a 67 to finish at 267, taking third.

The victory earned Scheffler 500 FedEx Cup points. He now leads the standings.

Scheffler's next event is the BMW Championship, scheduled for Aug. 20-23. He will aim to win there as well.

According to the Associated Press, this victory demonstrates Scheffler's strong play, and he remains the main favorite in upcoming tournaments.
