A resident of the North Kazakhstan region, who returned from prison after serving 25 years, has again found himself in the dock. This time, the man attacked a woman near Petropavlovsk. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kazinform.
According to the case materials, the incident occurred on June 19, 2026. The man stopped a female cyclist, saying he was looking for a missing cow. He then grabbed her by the neck, threw her to the ground, and, threatening with a knife, demanded she go with him into the forest.
The attack was interrupted by a random passerby. The woman managed to take advantage of the moment and run away.
The defendant's guilt was confirmed by the testimony of the victim, witnesses, and written evidence. However, the man himself did not admit his guilt, and his defense attorney asked the court to acquit him.
The state prosecutor requested nine years of imprisonment for the defendant. The court found him guilty and sentenced him to nine years in a maximum-security penal facility.

Earlier, he had been convicted of robbery, rape with the threat of murder, and violent sexual acts against a minor. In 1999, he was sentenced to 25 years in prison. Having fully served his term, the man was released on January 12, 2024.
