Head of North Kazakhstan Police Personally Handles Dozens of Abandoned Trucks on Highway

Since July 16, a congestion of dozens of heavy trucks has formed at the exit of Petropavlovsk. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

According to the North Kazakhstan Police Department, some of the trucks stopped on the roadside, partially obstructing traffic, forcing the police to switch to an enhanced mode of operation.

The head of the North Kazakhstan Police Department, Colonel Abai Zhusupov, had to personally deal with the problem. The identities of the drivers were established with the help of local executive bodies.

The issue is related to mandatory weight control. Drivers did not want to weigh their trucks to avoid fines for overloading.

As a result, police officers were on duty around the clock for three days on a section of the republican highway.

On the evening of July 18, the situation moved forward: nine heavy trucks underwent the weighing procedure. The transport control inspection drew up administrative materials for exceeding permissible weight parameters, and administrative police officers for damage to the road surface.

The head of the North Kazakhstan Police Department, Abai Zhusupov, personally met with the drivers of the arriving trucks. He urged them to comply with the law, undergo weight control, and prevent damage to roads.

According to the police department, by 14:30 on July 19, the situation was completely resolved. After preventive talks with drivers, all 32 heavy trucks proceeded to the weight control point, underwent the weighing procedure, and continued their routes.

All drivers were subject to measures by authorized state bodies in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The police emphasized that during the operation, no road accidents, public order violations, or other illegal actions were allowed.

Earlier, Kursiv reported that in March of this year, the Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan announced the start of an annual campaign to save asphalt. In spring, temporary restrictions were introduced in most regions for heavy trucks with a single axle load exceeding 8 tons.
