Siemens is ready to participate in the creation of data center infrastructure in Kazakhstan. This was stated by the company's Vice President for Commercial and Financial Affairs Bernd Ulbricht at a meeting with President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the Akorda reported. The meeting took place at the beginning of the second day of the head of state's official visit to Germany. Ulbricht said that Siemens can offer technological solutions for the modernization of power grids, digitalization, automation and water supply.
Tokayev called Siemens an important partner of Kazakhstan. According to him, the company's main areas of work — industrial digitalization, electrification, mobility and intelligent infrastructure — are linked to the priorities of modernizing the country's economy.
The President spoke about systemic measures for the digital transformation of the real sectors of the economy and welcomed the joint project of Siemens and the Kazakh company Silk Road Electronics to modernize equipment at the Qarmet metallurgical plant.
Tokayev emphasized that Kazakhstan is interested not only in purchasing advanced equipment, but also in creating production, engineering and service capacities. According to him, Siemens' competencies and technological innovations could be useful for updating the energy and utilities sectors, as well as improving environmental monitoring.
The meeting also discussed opportunities for expanding cooperation with Siemens Healthineers in the field of medical technology.
Ulbricht thanked the President for supporting the corporation's initiatives. He noted that over 30 years of work in the Kazakh market, Siemens has participated in the implementation of a number of industrial projects, and confirmed the company's interest in expanding cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
Earlier, Kursiv wrote that at a briefing in Germany, Tokayev announced the achievement of new strategic agreements between the countries. The President noted that the next task is their implementation, and invited German Chancellor Friedrich Merz to visit Kazakhstan on a state visit in 2027.
Kursiv also reported on Tokayev's talks with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier. In 2025, trade turnover between the countries reached $4.5 billion, and the cumulative inflow of German investment into Kazakhstan over 20 years amounted to $8 billion. Following the talks, the presidents adopted a joint declaration, and Steinmeier was awarded the Order of the Golden Eagle (Altyn Qyran).
