Rescuers in Shymkent have begun large-scale raids in the city's courtyards to find improperly parked cars that hinder the passage of special equipment. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

The preventive action "Erkin Jol Zhuru" is being conducted by the Shymkent Emergency Situations Department together with the city police department. The main task is to check the accessibility of approaches to multi-story buildings, hospitals, schools, and fire hydrants.

"Special attention was paid to areas where improperly parked vehicles could create obstacles for the passage of fire, rescue, and other special equipment," the department emphasized.

During the raids, emergency service workers explained to drivers that in case of a fire or other emergency, every second counts. Cluttering of courtyard passages and access roads can significantly complicate rescue operations and affect the speed of assistance to people.

Conversations were also held with apartment residents: Ministry of Emergency Situations specialists reminded them of the need to comply with fire safety requirements in everyday life, rules for the safe use of electrical appliances, and the algorithm of actions in case of an emergency.

On April 12, a major fire occurred on the 15th floor of a residential complex in the capital, claiming the lives of three children. Rescuers managed to save only the mother of the minors — she was hospitalized with multiple burns.

Later it became known that the entrance to the courtyard of the residential complex was blocked by metal gates, and the area was filled with cars, which prevented rescuers from arriving in time to help.

Earlier, Kursiv wrote that firefighters in Kazakhstan will not be allowed to ram obstructing cars in courtyards.
