In one of the hotel complexes in the city of Shymkent, police officers detained a famous toastmaster on suspicion of involvement in the illegal circulation of narcotic drugs. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
He turned out to be a 36-year-old resident of the city of Astana. During a search, a polymer bag containing a white powdery substance and a plant-based substance were found and seized from the hotel room.
"According to preliminary information, a woman providing intimate services was with the man," police reported.
The detained citizen stated that the seized substances were mephedrone and "mak" (poppy), and that he had purchased them for personal use. The exact composition and quantity of the seized substances are being determined.
A pre-trial investigation is underway into this incident. Other information is not subject to disclosure in the interests of the investigation, police said.
