The seismic station network of the National Scientific Center for Seismological Research and Information of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kazakhstan registered an earthquake on June 27 at 18:34 Astana time. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

According to seismologists, the epicenter of the earthquake was located in Afghanistan. Underground tremors with an estimated intensity of 2 points were recorded in Shymkent, as well as in several settlements of the Turkistan and Zhambyl regions.

In the Turkistan region, the earthquake was felt by residents of Myrzakent, Zhetysay, Abay, Saryagash, Shardara, Kazygurt, Lenger, Sayram, Mankent, Aksukent, Turar Ryskulov, Arys, Temirlanovka, Shauldir and Shayan. In the Zhambyl region, tremors were felt in Taraz, as well as in the villages of Bauyrzhan Momyshuly, Sarykemer, Asa, Kulan, Merke and the city of Karatau.

According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, no information about casualties or destruction has been received. Rescuers reminded residents of basic safety rules.
