Extreme heat has once again affected a section of the highway from Shymkent to the border with Uzbekistan. The concrete pavement bulged, forcing road workers to urgently begin repairs. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

According to the national operator KazAvtoZhol, local deformation was discovered on July 10 during a routine inspection at the 750th kilometer of the republican highway KZ13-03 "Shymkent – border of the Republic of Uzbekistan." The damaged section was immediately fenced off with temporary road signs, after which specialists began repair and preventive work.

Specialists said the cause was extreme heat. A storm warning is in effect in the Turkistan region: according to weather forecasters, the air temperature reaches +40 degrees. Under such conditions, cement concrete pavement expands, which can lead to deformation.

Road services have been put on enhanced duty. They patrol highways around the clock and monitor the condition of concrete sections to detect such defects in time.

"Due to the storm warning from Kazhydromet about an increase in air temperature to +40 °C, road services have intensified patrolling and monitoring of the region's highways," the national operator reported.

Six specialists and five units of equipment are working on site. After the defect is eliminated, the pavement is promised to be restored.

Drivers are asked to observe speed limits, pay attention to temporary road signs, and be especially careful when passing the section where repair work is underway.

It is worth noting that the road pavement on this section has bulged due to extreme heat before; last year, social media users actively drew attention to this.

Earlier, Kursiv wrote that the country would experience the strangest weather for the entire month of July.

And the day before, forecasters advised Kazakhstanis to prepare for the hottest week of summer.
