The water in the Karaguzhikha River in East Kazakhstan Region has turned an "unusual" color. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
A video circulating on social media shows the river water has become pinkish-brown. Residents, who have never seen such a phenomenon, are expressing concern.
Ecologists and water specialists have confirmed the color change. They stated that no official requests regarding this issue have been received by the ecology department, but monitoring has been carried out.
"As part of the monitoring, on June 26, 2026, water samples were taken from the Karaguzhikha River in the Glubokoye district, and laboratory analyses are currently being conducted," ecologists said.
According to specialists, additional information will be provided after the results of the laboratory analyses are available.
