A 175-meter bridge over the Pikhtovka River toward the Rakhmanov Springs has been completed in East Kazakhstan. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

KazAvtoZhol, Kazakhstan's national operator for the management of automobile roads, has completed construction of the bridge over the Pikhtovka River. The structure, 175 meters long, was built at a height of up to 45 meters above the terrain, the company reported.

Final stage and bridge design

The final stage was the installation of the seventh span, which connected the two banks of the mountain gorge. The bridge consists of seven spans of 24 meters each and eight supports – two bank supports and six intermediate ones.

All supports have already been erected, and the installation of the spans has been completed. At the same time, work on the facility's improvement continues.

'A truly landmark day': contractor's comment

"Today is a truly landmark day for us. The completion of the bridge over the Pikhtovka is the result of the enormous work of a large team. The facility was built in difficult mountain conditions, where every engineering decision required maximum precision and responsibility," said Nurbek Temirkhanov, director of the East Kazakhstan regional branch of KazAvtoZhol JSC.

Construction process and features

About 150 specialists worked on the construction. Due to the complex mountain terrain, the builders had to organize the delivery of materials and the operation of heavy equipment in hard-to-reach areas. A mobile concrete plant was installed at the site for concrete works.

Currently, concrete bollards and railings are being installed on the bridge, parapets are being mounted, slopes are being reinforced with 'Reno' mattresses and gabion structures, and traffic safety measures are being carried out.

The asphalt concrete pavement is planned to be laid by the end of September. After all work on improvement and safety is completed, the bridge will be ready for traffic to open.
