At the end of July, a bear attacked a man near a recreation center located close to the West Altai State Nature Reserve in the vicinity of Ridder. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
The predator lunged at a 58-year-old resident of Ridder who was working at an apiary. He was saved from death by two men who were nearby.
The victim spent several days in intensive care, then in the trauma department. According to doctors, he had extensive injuries to his head, arms, and legs. Specifically, his arms and legs were broken in several places with displaced bone fragments.
Afterwards, inspectors arrived at the scene and eliminated the animal. "We shoot bears only in cases of real threat to humans," reported the forestry and hunting department.
Earlier, it was reported that the number of brown bears in East Kazakhstan had increased.
