A 43-year-old resident of Ridder found a rare historical weapon while walking near the Gromotukha River and turned it over to police. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
The man realized that he had found not just a piece of metal, but a rare firearm with a century-old history, and immediately contacted the Ridder city police department, handing over the weapon to officers.
As a result of an examination conducted by specialists of the operational-forensic department of the East Kazakhstan Police Department, it was established that the police had received a true "veteran" — an 8 mm caliber revolver of the Lefaucheux system. Lefaucheux system revolvers are legendary weapons of the late 19th century.
Due to the lack of standard ammunition, it was not possible to determine its suitability for firing, but experts confirmed the factory origin of the item and its historical value. "This is a rare case of timely surrender to law enforcement agencies," the forensic experts noted. The valuable artifact has been registered.
