A shooting at a rave party in the Swiss city of Aarau left one person dead and five others injured, some seriously. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Euronews.
The incident occurred around 3 a.m. at an event attended by approximately 3,500 people. Witnesses said they initially mistook the gunshots for fireworks. A video published by the Swiss newspaper Blick, allegedly filmed near the scene, captures about ten gunshots.
The shooter has not yet been identified, and police are searching for him.
"Possible motives and exact circumstances of the crime remain unclear," the cantonal police said.
There is no information yet on arrests or new details about the suspect's identity.
Significant police forces were deployed in the area. Pascal Wenzel, spokesman for the cantonal police in Aarau, said in the morning that law enforcement considers the situation a "special situation."
Residents were urged to avoid the area.
According to the Swiss emergency news agency BRK News, a Swiss army Super Puma helicopter also circled over the Aarau agglomeration. Flight tracking data recorded several approaches of the military helicopter around the city, but its role in the operation is still unknown.
Earlier, Kursiv reported that on August 7, a shooting at the Debsirin Nonthaburi school in Thailand killed eight people. The suspected attacker, a senior student, was later found dead; police believe he took his own life. Investigators are determining the motive and circumstances.
