A man with a sword wounded at least three people at a school in central Sweden. The suspect has been detained by police, according to the Associated Press. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
Attack details
The attack occurred on August 21 at Brinell school in Fagersta, a town northwest of Stockholm.
According to authorities in Västmanland County, two teenagers were seriously injured. Another victim is being taken to hospital.
Classes were in session at the time of the attack. About 400-500 students were in the upper grades.
Police statement
Police spokesperson Pelle Wamstad said the alarm was raised early in the afternoon. Officers arrived at the scene and plan to review surveillance footage as part of the investigation.
Prime Minister's reaction
Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson called the incident serious and noted that police are working intensively at the scene.
"There are reports of injured. We do not yet know what is behind what happened, but we know that the police are working very intensively," Kristersson wrote.
Measures taken
Fagersta authorities set up a crisis center in a sports hall near the school. The region reported that police, firefighters, and medics are providing assistance to the victims.
After the attack, several nearby schools were temporarily closed, and roadblocks were set up on roads.

Earlier, Kursiv reported that on August 7, a shooting at Debsirin Nonthaburi school in Thailand killed eight people. The suspected attacker, a senior student, was later found dead; police believe he took his own life. Investigators are determining the motive and circumstances.
