In Ust-Kamenogorsk, on the occasion of the Day of Mass Media Workers, journalists were presented with keys to apartments and cars. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
According to the press service of the Akimat of the East Kazakhstan Region, media employees received two apartments and three cars for the professional holiday.
"You daily convey the most important events happening in the country to the people and selflessly work for the truth. Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has repeatedly emphasized the special role of mass media in society. The country needs professional journalism that disseminates reliable information, conveys the people's aspirations to the authorities, and puts national interests above all else," Akim of the East Kazakhstan Region Nuryмбet Saktaganov addressed journalists.
During the ceremony, journalists, operators, and industry veterans who achieved high results in their profession were awarded.
By decree of the President, journalism veteran Aitmukhambet Kassymov was awarded the Order of "Kurmet", and TV operator of the Khabar agency Dmitry Pikhtin received the medal "Yeren enbegi ushin".
A number of media employees were awarded badges of the Ministry of Culture and Information "Enbek ardageri" and "Aқparat salasynyn үzdigi", as well as certificates of honor and letters of gratitude. Winners of professional nominations received awards from the regional akim.
On behalf of the President of Kazakhstan, the keys to a new three-room apartment were received by the own correspondent of the Qazaqstan TV channel in the East Kazakhstan Region, Olzhas Kereikhan. Another two-room apartment was presented to journalist of the ALTAI-NEWS LLP media center, Aidos Myrzakhmetov.
In addition, new cars were handed over to the ALTAI TV channel, the ALTAI-NEWS media center, and the Regional Communications Service of the East Kazakhstan Region.
Earlier, Kursiv reported that journalists across the country began receiving keys to apartments from the President on the occasion of the holiday. Ceremonies have already taken place in Astana and Almaty.
Over the past three years, 200 employees of domestic media have received housing certificates from the head of state. It was reported that in 2026, media workers will be provided with 66 apartments: 15 in Astana, 15 in Almaty, and another 36 apartments will be distributed among 18 regions of the country — two in each.
The Day of Mass Media Workers is a professional holiday for journalists, editors, operators, photographers, directors, technical specialists, and all those who daily provide citizens with reliable and prompt information. In Kazakhstan, it is traditionally celebrated on June 28.
