A new bridge over the Pikhtovka River and a 12-kilometer bypass of the Osinovsky Pass have opened to traffic in the East Kazakhstan region. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

According to regional authorities, drivers will now be able to avoid the dangerous mountain serpentine, which is considered one of the difficult road sections in the East Kazakhstan region.

Characteristics of the new bridge

The new bridge is 175 meters long. It was built in difficult mountain conditions at a height of 45 meters above the gorge. Together with the 12-kilometer bypass road, it will allow drivers to bypass the serpentine of the Osinovsky Pass, saving time and reducing risks when traveling in mountainous terrain.

Transport significance

The new road has important transport significance: the Bukhtarma highway connects Ust-Kamenogorsk with the Altai, Ulken Naryn and Katon-Karagai districts.

This was reported in an Instagram post by Nūrymbet Amanūly Saqtağanov (@shko.akim.official).

Impact on tourism

The opening of the bypass road should improve transport accessibility to popular tourist destinations in East Kazakhstan. In particular, this concerns the Bukhtarma Reservoir, the Katon-Karagai National Park and the Rakhmanov Springs.

Previously, travel in this direction was complicated by the winding mountain section of the pass. The new route will make movement around the region more convenient for local residents and businesses, as well as for tourists.

Earlier, Kursiv reported that the completion of Kazakhstan's highest mountain bridge was entrusted to a new contractor.
